Welcome back to Tempesta Media’s second installment of This Week in Content Marketing.
We’re building on last week’s collection of highlights with the explosive news that thousands of subreddits have gone dark protesting new Reddit policies plus more of the latest on SEO, design, and AI for business.
Ok, enough preamble; let’s get to this week’s highlights!
More Than 6,000 Subreddits Have Gone Dark
There’s always fanfare for the hardware specs and software feats in technology, but what about the wetware required to keep our favorite websites operating how we expect them to daily?
According to the Verge, over 6,000 subreddits are going dark from June 12th to the 14th as moderators protest their API policy changes (what was free is now to be a paid service).
This protest comes on the heels of Twitter’s implementation of new paid tiers for their API, marking a turn in the tone regarding data as a product in the media sphere as these giant networks become a little less social.
Ahrefs: Keyword Database & Traffic Estimations
We have loved the tremendous analytical insights from the Ahrefs platform, and according to this updated entry from Time Soulo, we can expect further expansion and improvement to the reporting their tools provide.
While it’s not the only tool we use here at Tempesta Media, their dashboard is an excellent addition to evaluating a website’s performance and crafting media messaging for clients.
Past Imperfect: The Art of Lo-Fi Design
This article highlights the importance of design in online message distribution, emphasizing the need to balance fun and professional elements. It critiques the trend of overwhelming interfaces with excessive interactivity.
It suggests embracing a Lo-Fi aesthetic characterized by bold colors and fonts while advocating for simplicity and attention-grabbing designs to engage audiences effectively.
AI Essentials for Business Growth
AI is a powerful tool for marketers but requires human expertise to drive success. To unlock AI’s full potential, marketers should build a strong foundation of high-quality data, maximize results with AI-powered campaigns, and foster a culture of experimentation and agility. By embracing these key areas, marketers can accelerate business growth and make confident decisions grounded in predictive data.
Google Enhances Bard’s Reasoning Skills
Google’s language model, Bard, has been updated to enhance its logic and reasoning abilities.
It incorporates “implicit code execution” to improve accuracy in mathematical tasks and coding questions. The update combines System 1 and System 2 thinking, akin to intuition and logic, to provide more accurate responses.
While these advancements represent a step forward, limitations and challenges remain, requiring a balanced perspective when utilizing AI technology. We are watching the competition between Google and OpenAI’s ChatGPT closely.
Until Next Week…
Our big takeaway is that we continue to see that our social networks are as capable of social engineering as they are of social protest in regards to information access; this means your content messaging must be sensitive, whether it is targeting B2B relationships, or opening broader conversations online as a retailer or D2C offering.
Thank you for staying updated with us this week, talk again soon.
