More Than 6,000 Subreddits Have Gone Dark

There’s always fanfare for the hardware specs and software feats in technology, but what about the wetware required to keep our favorite websites operating how we expect them to daily? 

According to the Verge, over 6,000 subreddits are going dark from June 12th to the 14th as moderators protest their API policy changes (what was free is now to be a paid service). 

This protest comes on the heels of Twitter’s implementation of new paid tiers for their API, marking a turn in the tone regarding data as a product in the media sphere as these giant networks become a little less social.

Ahrefs: Keyword Database & Traffic Estimations

We have loved the tremendous analytical insights from the Ahrefs platform, and according to this updated entry from Time Soulo, we can expect further expansion and improvement to the reporting their tools provide.

Google Enhances Bard’s Reasoning Skills

Google’s language model, Bard, has been updated to enhance its logic and reasoning abilities. 

It incorporates “implicit code execution” to improve accuracy in mathematical tasks and coding questions. The update combines System 1 and System 2 thinking, akin to intuition and logic, to provide more accurate responses. 

While these advancements represent a step forward, limitations and challenges remain, requiring a balanced perspective when utilizing AI technology. We are watching the competition between Google and OpenAI’s ChatGPT closely.
